Overview of Diversity Lottery Visa Cases

The Congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program makes available 50,000 permanent resident visas annually, drawn from random selection among all entries to persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.

The Diversity Visa (DV) 2009 Lottery online entry begins at Noon EDT on October 3, 2007, and ends at Noon EST on December 2, 2007. After you have carefully reviewed the instructions, access the Diversity Visa electronic entry form during the entry period at

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1318.html.

Diversity Visa Lottery winners will be notified if their application is selected for possible issuance through mail by the U.S. Department of State. The file will then be transferred to the National Visa Center and on to U.S. Embassy Kinshasa. U.S. Embassy Kinshasa will then contact the beneficiary with instructions on the necessary documentation needed to proceed to the interview.
