On April 21th, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) donated nearly 2,000 books to the library at the Protestant University of Congo (UPC). The books are a donation from Claudia Parker. The USAID/DRC Mission Director Stephen Haykin said, “this donation reflects the commitment and support of the U.S. government to the education sector in DRC. Through the United States Embassy and USAID, the U.S. government supports and funds various programs and activities ranging from the rehabilitation of schools to the supply of teaching materials and educational books as well as teacher training.” The UPC Rector Ngoy Bolia thanked the United States Embassy and especially USAID for making possible this gift of books to the university.
