Mark Twain Prize Winners

The Public Affairs Section of Embassy Kinshasa awarded two Mark Twain Prizes for short fiction to Congolese writers on Tuesday, October 6 during a reception at the residence of Public Affairs Officer Katya Thomas.  The winners were Aubain King for “Horizon Voilé” and Dominique Mpundu for “L’Epine de Pekato.”  In his remarks, Deputy Chief of Mission Samuel Brock noted that the submitted stories continue to improve in quality, demonstrating not only literary talent, but also the interests and concerns of the Congolese people.   The two laureates both spoke on the importance of encouraging Congolese literature.  The Mark Twain Prize will continue to be awarded every month until the end of the year, at which time a grand prize winner will be chosen from among the previous laureates.
