Kinshasa American Corner Hosts Inauguration Day Event

Journalists watch inauguration

On January 20, 2009, an audience of more than 80 people, including journalists and university students, watched the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44^th U.S. president at the Kinshasa American Corner.  Invited guests included print and broadcast media representatives.  Guests showed strong interest in the process leading to the swearing-in of a U.S. president, a tradition rooted in the American people’s abiding attachment to democracy. Journalists in attendance enjoyed President Obama's inaugural addressing, noting America's commitment to supporting freedom and human rights around the globe.
