On Monday December 14, the Public Affairs Section organized a workshop where acclaimed American singer Olivia Longott shared her personal and professional experiences with a group of 20 young female Congolese performers. Olivia advised the participants on how to effectively manage their own careers and become creative entrepreneurs. At the end of the workshop, Olivia explained that her love for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and its music was the reason for her collaboration with Congolese singer Fally Ipupa on the hit single “Electric Chair,” the first song ever recorded in English and Lingala. Olivia hopes to return soon to the DRC, and will continue to work with local talent.
