Ambassador Garvelink cuts inaugural ribbon

Friday, January 23rd, Ambassador and Mrs. Garvelink inaugurated one of the Embassy's twelve Special Self Help projects funded in 2008. Clinique Kimbangu received $5,500 to construct a small classroom where mothers and care givers can be trained in nutrition, hygiene and food preparation. Clinique Kimbangu is an exceptional example of a well organized, operating, clean health clinic.

Clinique Kimbangu invited the Ambassador to inaugurate the classroom. The inauguration ceremony was well organized and attended by the Burgomaster of Mont-Ngafula, the Commandant of the Police, the Chief Doctor of the Health Zone, and other distinguished guests of the Commune. This worthy project will increase the quality of life of the estimated six thousand people who visit this clinic yearly. The staff of Clinique Kimbangu and dignitaries of Mont-Ngafula expressed their deep gratitude for the contribution of the Embassy and visit of the Ambassador. The Embassy is pleased to aid groups like Clinique Kimbangu who are making a difference in their Communities.
