Press Roundtable on U.S. Foreign Policy

Embassy Kinshasa’s monthly Press Roundtable took place at the Ambassador’s residence on Thursday, August 27.  Deputy Chief of Mission Samuel Brock spoke on “Changes in U.S. Foreign Policy vis-a-vis the UN and other International Organizations.”  Focusing on the speech delivered by United States Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice at New York University on August 12, DCM Brock described how American policy towards multilateral organizations has evolved since President Barack Obama took office earlier this year.  Other subjects discussed were U.S. assistance programs to fight Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) announced by Secretary Clinton during her visit to Goma on August 11, as well as military cooperation and other bilateral issues.  Other participants in the roundtable were USAID Mission Director Stephen Haykin and Economic Counselor Elizabeth Jaffee.
