Honoring 110 Years of Service

Embassy Kinshasa honored three local employees with a combined total of 110 years of service to the United States Government on the occasion of their retirement during a celebration at the Joint Administrative Offices (JAO) on Friday, September 25.  Daniel Kanza Ngioki worked for the facilities management office for 40 years.

During his 38 year career at the Embassy, Viokolo Lelo di Matonda began as a motor pool dispatcher, then moved to the procurement section and eventually ended his career in the shipping unit.  Mukengeshay Kasanda spent 32 years working in the Information Resource Center (IRC) of the Public Affairs office.  Each employee was presented with a certificate of appreciation for his service.

The Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Samuel Brock, Management Counselor Craig Cloud and Public Affairs Officer Katya Thomas all delivered remarks, thanking the three for their hard work and wishing them a happy retirement.  Food and beverages were served, and “Jeunesse l’An 2000,” a local dance troop, performed on the stage, followed by the Viokolo Breakdancers and other entertainment.
