U.S. Conducts Elections Observation Across the DRC

November 29, 2011

As part of its efforts to support a transparent, credible, and participatory electoral process in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the United States conducted elections observation on November 28th in every province of the country. All U.S. government observers had undergone training with the Carter Center and been accredited by the National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI). While in the field, they met with local Congolese election officials and candidates and observed the voting process at regional polling stations.

Ambassador Entwistle served on one of the eighteen accredited observer teams deployed across Kinshasa.
