New Procedures For Some Visas Effective March 10, 2008

The Consular Section of the US Embassy would like to inform the public of changes regarding the process for obtaining tourism, business or medical care visas.

Starting on March 10, 2008, visa appointments will no longer be scheduled by telephone and the payments of the MRV fees will no longer be accepted by the Consular Section. Henceforth, all tourist, business, and medical care visa applicants will be required to go to CITI (CITIBANK) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to schedule appointments and to pay the MRV fees. If the visa is issued, the applicant will pay the visa fee at the Consular Section.

With regard to student visas, the procedure remains unchanged. All students will need to fax or email their I-20 forms as well as their acceptance letters from the school where they are enrolled (with their phone numbers). The Consular Section will then set a date for the interview and the payment of the MRV will be accepted by the Consular Section. Again, if the visa is issued, the applicant will pay the visa fee at the Consular Section.

Moreover, emergency cases (i.e. disease, death) as well as official trips will be handled directly through the Consular Section. The Consular Section will take appointments over the phone (0818803724) from Monday to Thursday from 14:00 p.m. to 16:00 p.m. The payments will be accepted at the Consular Section.
