U.S. Congressman Donates Books to Kinshasa Municipal Library

July 7, 2008

On July 2, Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MI) donated a set of books to Mr. Paul Wersey, the Director of the Kinshasa Municipal Library. The donation were books from the U.S. NGO “Books for Africa” as well as several copies of Merriam-Webster dictionaries. Mr. Ellison was part of a Congressional delegation that visited the DRC capital early this month.

This year, the Embassy donated the entire collection of Nouveaux Horizons books to the Municipal Library, the only public library in existence in a dense and highly populated city. This initiative and Congressman Ellison’s book donation, underscore the interest and the support of the Government and the people of the United States toward strengthening education and culture in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
